Russia warned about NATO’s movements in the Arctic – Mehr News Agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, Vladislav Maslennikov, the director of the European affairs department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with RIA Novosti: “Moscow is taking measures, including military-technical measures, to secure its interests in the Arctic, and these measures are not against third countries.”
Stating that the military-political conflict in the Arctic is increasing, he noted that the exercises of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the region have become increasingly extensive and aggressive.
Maselnikov added: Russia will respond to any attempt to ignore its national security in the Arctic.
He said: “Moscow has regular contacts with Denmark regarding the activities of the Arctic Council, but the issue of Greenland’s situation is not raised in these contacts.”
