According to RCO News Agency, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baqaei, responded to reporters’ questions about the latest situation of two French citizens imprisoned in Iran on Monday evening. He said: These two French citizens, who have been in prison for committing security crimes for some time, have been released on bail by the decision of the judge of the case and will be under observation until the next judicial stage.
According to this report, French President Emmanuel Macron also wrote on the X social network on Tuesday evening: “Cecil Kohler and Jacques Parry, who were detained in Iran for three years, have been released from Evin prison and are on their way to the French embassy in Tehran.”
Macron added: I welcome this first step. Discussions are ongoing to facilitate their return to France as soon as possible.
“We are working tirelessly on this issue and I would like to thank the embassy and all government services for their efforts,” the French president stressed.
