According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters news agency, the US Department of Treasury on Tuesday sanctioned 8 individuals and 2 entities that, according to the ministry, were involved in various cyber money laundering schemes related to North Korea.

The Treasury Department claimed that this action was taken under the pretext of cutting off funding for North Korea’s weapons programs.

John Hurley, US Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, claimed in a statement: These people directly threaten the security of the United States and the world by generating revenue for Pyongyang’s weapons development!
