Kremlin: Borostnik missile should not affect Moscow-Washington relations – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, quoted by Tass, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says that Russia’s Borostnik nuclear missile tests should not affect the relations between Moscow and Washington in any way. Relationships that are now at their lowest level.
Peskov said: “There is nothing that could or should overshadow relations between Moscow and Washington more than this, especially since these relations are currently at an all-time low.”
He added: So far, only preliminary and uncertain steps have been taken to get these relations out of the previous stagnation.
The General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday that the tests of the Borostnik missile at a nuclear facility have been successfully completed. The weapon is capable of traveling long distances at low altitudes, which reduces its vulnerability to air defense systems.
Since Donald Trump came to power in America, Moscow and Washington have been trying to normalize bilateral relations. However, Washington has recently taken unfriendly measures, including imposing sanctions on Russia’s oil sector, with the aim of reaching a so-called settlement over the war in Ukraine.
Moscow has emphasized that it does not make decisions under pressure and that Washington’s actions will not contribute to the normalization of relations. Also, these measures will only raise energy prices around the world, primarily hurting American consumers.
