Da Silva: Trump guaranteed the achievement of a trade agreement with Brazil – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva says that Donald Trump, his American counterpart, has ensured the two countries reach a trade agreement during the recent meeting between the two sides.
On the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Malaysia, Lula said that his talks with Trump had gone well, “and an agreement will be reached sooner than everyone thought.”
The United States imposed a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods imported to the United States after the country’s prosecutor convicted Jair Bolsonaro, the former pro-Western president of Brazil.
Lula added that recent US decisions against Brazil were “wrong” but he is willing to discuss any issue with Trump and also help the US on the Venezuela issue.
He emphasized: I told him (Trump) that it is very important to pay attention to Brazil’s experience as the largest country in South America and the most important country that economically neighbors almost all South American countries.
