The successful test of Moscow’s “Borostennik” nuclear missile; Putin: This weapon is unique – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr News Agency, quoted by Moscow Times, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during a visit to a command center that the Borovestnik nuclear intercontinental cruise missile was successfully tested.
According to him, the advanced weapons were tested as part of the training of the Russian strategic offensive forces.
Valery Gerasimov, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, who accompanied Putin on this visit, announced in a report to the Russian President that the said test was conducted on Tuesday last week and the missile traveled a distance of 14,000 kilometers in about 15 hours.
According to Putin, this test confirmed the reliability of Russia’s nuclear shield and the modernity of the country’s nuclear deterrent forces at a higher level.
He emphasized: This is really a unique weapon that no other country in the world has.
Borostenik test was done on October 21 (29 Mehr). Noting that the missile has demonstrated its ability to evade defense systems, Gerasimov said this is not the final level.
Putin also ordered Gerasimov to determine the level of the missile, prepare the necessary infrastructure for its deployment and identify possible ways to use it.
