Intensification of ISIS terrorist activities in Kurdish areas of Syria – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, the American newspaper Wall Street Journal wrote in a field report referring to the revival of the ISIS terrorist group in the shadow of the power vacuum in this country that the attacks of this extremist group are increasing and its terrorists are taking advantage of the decrease in the presence of the United States and the collapse of the regime of former President Bashar al-Assad.
According to this report, ISIS gunmen targeted the patrols of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 20 times in May, which resulted in the wounding of 15 Kurdish fighters and the death of 10 people..
SDF military commanders announced that this month was the bloodiest month for their forces since 2019 until the collapse of ISIS in Syria.
Syrian Kurdish commanders emphasized that ISIS’s tactics have changed and that its men now operate in small, dormant cells and receive orders to ambush and plant roadside bombs. These command sources noted that these operations are “low-cost” and difficult to eliminate.
Simand Ali, the spokesman of the “Kurdish People’s Defenders” units, said about ISIS armed men: “In every operation, they rely on small groups of four or five people, and each of them has a Kalashnikov rifle and an improvised explosive device.”
ISIS gunmen no longer wear military uniforms and carry their distinctive black flags, a tactic that allows them to blend in more easily with the local population, according to the newspaper.
