Sweden and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of dozens of fighter jets – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, Sweden’s Prime Minister Olaf Kristerson announced on Wednesday: We have agreed with Ukraine to export approximately 150 JAS-39 Gripen light fighters. The world must increase pressure on Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Sweden then continued: The agreement signed with Ukraine today is not aimed at providing new financial aid, but rather at long-term cooperation in the field of air defense. Its goal is to build a powerful Ukrainian Air Force in the next 10 to 15 years.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced about the purchase of Gripen fighters from Sweden: We expect the final contract to include at least 100 fighters. Kiev plans to receive and deploy Gripen fighters next year.
