Rail accident in Ethiopia; 14 people were killed and 29 were injured – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoting Xinhua News Agency, local media reported on Tuesday that at least 14 people were killed and dozens more injured as a result of a train accident in eastern Ethiopia.
Late TV channel TV (Dire TV) quoted local authorities as saying that the incident occurred around 2 am local time today, when a passenger train was traveling from Doualeh, a border town near Djibouti, to Dire Dawa city.
Local authorities confirmed that the incident resulted in the death of at least 14 people and serious or minor injuries to 29 others.
Images shared on social media showed pieces of the dismembered train strewn along the Deira Dawa-Dualeh track, part of Ethiopia’s historic railway line that connects Deira Dawa to Doualeh.
