According to RCO News Agency, citing Al-Ain Al-Akhbari, news sources announced the heavy attack of al-Qaeda on Abin in southern Yemen. Following the heavy attack by the operatives of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda on the base of the 1st Support and Logistics Brigade of the Southern Transitional Council forces in the management of Al-Mahfad in Abyan province, four members of the forces of the Southern Transitional Council of Yemen were killed.

Also, parts of the buildings of this base and the governorate building of Al-Mahfad have been destroyed. This attack was carried out with two car bombs, and after that, al-Qaeda suicide bombers engaged in an armed conflict with the people inside the base. In this conflict, five Al-Qaeda members were also killed.

Al-Mahfad is one of the districts of Abyan province that is currently under the control of the Southern Transitional Council (STC). This attack is one of the biggest attacks of the Al-Qaeda branch in Yemen against the positions of the Southern Transitional Council in recent years and is considered an important development in their attacks. After the clearing of Al-Qaeda positions in Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda and Marib provinces by Yemen’s Ansarullah in the past years, the main activity of Al-Qaeda’s branch in Yemen was focused on the conflict with the Southern Transitional Council.

These attacks were generally carried out by bombing and sometimes throwing bombs or using quadcopters or sniper attacks, but today’s attack was more extensive and suicide and self-inflicted elements dealt a serious blow to the body of the Southern Transitional Council.

At the same time, Brigadier General Nasr Al-Yafei, commander of the 1st Support and Logistics Brigade of the Southern Transitional Council, announced in a statement that the forces of the 1st Brigade repelled a large-scale terrorist attack by Al-Qaeda elements on the Al-Mahfad governorate building in Abin province.

He confirmed the death of four soldiers of this brigade during the conflict with al-Qaeda and announced the control of the situation following this conflict and the destruction of the attackers.
