In May 2024, 72-year-old Juraj Sintolai shot the Prime Minister of this country five times from a distance of more than one meter, while welcoming Fico with the people in the city of “Handloa” located in the center of Slovakia.
According to Reuters, the decision of the Special Criminal Court of the city of “Banska Bystrica” ends the case that started in July. The main doubt in this case was the proof of the “terrorism” charge. This sentence can be appealed in the Slovak Supreme Court.
Fico, who was shot four times, was severely injured in the abdomen and also suffered injuries in the pelvis, arms and legs. He appeared in public for the first time in July 2025, a few months after the attack.
