What was the story of the burning ship on the coast of Yemen? – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, Reuters news agency reported that the European Union’s maritime mission announced that a tanker carrying liquefied gas (LPG) with the flag of Cameroon suffered an explosion and a massive fire near the coast of Yemen on Saturday.
According to this report, the crew of this ship had to leave after the explosion.
The European mission known as Aspides announced in a statement: “MV Falcon” tanker is currently on fire and is near the coast of Yemen.
According to this report, the spread of the fire has created a serious danger for the traffic of ships in this area, and all vessels in the vicinity have been asked to maintain a safe distance from this tanker.
According to initial reports, the exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, but initial evidence suggests that the incident may have been caused by a sudden event.
It is said that about 15% of the ship’s hull burns in the fire.
At that time, it was reported that the search and rescue operation of the 26-member crew of this tanker is underway. So far, two commercial ships near the accident site have managed to rescue 24 crew members, but two people are still missing.
British security company Ambrey announced that MV Falcon tanker was on its way from Sohar port in Oman to Djibouti and the incident happened about 113 nautical miles southeast of Aden port in southern Yemen.
Security sources have emphasized that no sign of a missile or drone attack has been observed in the area and the type of incident is not consistent with the pattern of attacks by Houthi forces (Ansarullah) in Yemen.
Also, an official of the Ministry of Defense of the Sana’a government, supported by Ansarullah, in an interview with the Saba news agency, denied any connection between this group and this incident.
Yemeni Ansarullah forces have carried out numerous attacks against commercial ships in the Red Sea since 2023 until the Gaza ceasefire agreement and in support of the people of this region and the Palestinian people.
These actions have been carried out in the form of operations to support the people of Gaza and to support them against the all-out aggression of the Zionist regime in this area.
