Referring to the recent claim of US President Donald Trump about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agreement to stop buying Russian oil, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow is only citing official statements on this issue.
Trump has claimed that Modi assured him that India will no longer buy oil from Russia.
Regarding this claim, Peskov said: We rely on the official statements of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New Delhi, as well as the statement from Beijing. These statements are publicly available and we adhere to them.
Earlier, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaizwal said that Indian authorities prioritize the interests of their consumers when it comes to energy imports.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian also said that Trump is weakening the global supply chain by asking other countries to stop buying Russian oil.
