The closure of the Venezuelan Embassy in Norway; The Nobel Peace Prize is among the Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
The Venezuelan government closed the Caracas Embassy in Oslo, the Norwegian capital, in response to the Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Corina Machhado, the Norwegian capital, according to the Guardian. The Venezuelan Embassy in Australia has also been closed.
Norwegian Foreign Ministry spokesman Sesili Rong said that the Venezuelan Embassy had made no reason for the decision.
“It is unfortunate,” he said. Despite the disagreements we have on several issues, Norway will want to maintain a conversation with Venezuela and move along this path.
The embassy service department will no longer respond to the phones since yesterday evening, according to the Verdens Gang newspaper.
This happened three days after the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Machado in Oslo. As the Venezuelan Western opposition, he has set his mission to overthrow President Nicholas Maduro’s government!
Jurgen Watten Frieden, head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee based in Oslo, told Machado during a prize ceremony that he was “appreciated because of the continuous effort to promote democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and the fight to achieve a fair and peaceful transfer of dictatorship.”
Machado supports the US military presence in Venezuela’s nearby waters and the attack on fishing boats that have attacked the United States on the pretext of drug trafficking. He also presented his Nobel Prize to US President Donald Trump.
Tensions between Washington and Caracas have intensified because of what the United States has called drug trafficking from Venezuela with American soil. Venezuela has also announced that it will open new embassies in Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe.
Venezuela has announced that it is reasonable to expect an armed attack on Caracas in the short term after US invasion of civilian boats. Maduro also said that Washington is seeking to change the Venezuelan regime. Washington has accused Maduro of directing drug trafficking gangs.
