Earthquake of 1.2 Richter in South America; Tsunami Warning – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
Reuters reported that the Pacific Tsunami Alert Center announced Friday that a tsunami was issued after a 3.5 -magnitude earthquake at the Drake Passage, which is a waterway between the southern American and South Antarctica.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the depth of the earthquake was reported to be 2 km.
Following the incident, the Chilean Sea SHOA also issued a tsunami’s precautionary warning to the Antarctic territory, and officials called on residents of coastline to evacuate the coast.
