Lebanese President: Army is a red line and should not be fueled – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said: “Internal peace is always higher than any consideration and preservation is the basic task of the army and security forces, while these forces are fully reduced to achieve this goal (internal peace).
In a meeting with a delegation from the Arab League, he said: “If the vigilance and efforts of the army and the security forces to secure and protect the citizens and support the Lebanese community with all its components and spectrum, Lebanon would not have restored our security and stability today.”
The Lebanese president strongly emphasized: Criticizing or targeting the army and security forces is by no means acceptable, because they are also red lines that should not be raised.
Referring to the coordination of the two institutions, he added: “The army and the security forces are fully coordinating their missions and are at the forefront of combating terrorism, organized crimes and drug trafficking and fulfilling all security duties with the utmost commitment.”
Earlier, the Lebanese parliament Speaker Nabih Barry, in response to criticism of the Lebanese army, insisted that the army belongs to the whole country and that any damage to the army was forbidden.
“The Lebanese army is a red line and it is forbidden to target anyone,” the Lebanese parliament Speaker said. It is forbidden to harm the army because the army does not belong to any part. The army does not support any other side against the other. The army is for the whole country.
