Taliban officials’ crushing response to Trump’s threat to Bagram – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
US President Donald Trump’s remarks and threats to the Bagram Air Force has prompted a sharp response from Taliban officials, according to Mehr News Agency.
Mullah Tajmir Javad, the first deputy head of the Afghan Government’s Intelligence Office, said in response to Trump’s remarks to reclaim the strategic base by the Afghan government that the current Afghan government would maintain the current system and structure.
Also, Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Ya’qub Mujahid said: “When the United States was leaving Afghanistan, they demanded that bases were preserved.” We told them, “If you stay, we are ready to fight you for another 5 years.”
He added that “our answer is; “If you want to have bases, we are ready to fight for another 5 years.”
Zakar Jalali, the third political head of the Afghan Foreign Ministry, rejected the US return to Kabul, stressing that Afghans have never accepted foreign forces on their territory, and that any talks with Washington were eliminated.
“Bagram is one of the largest air bases in the world,” Trump said last week at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Kore Starmer at the end of his trip to the country. We gave them free. By the way, we are trying to get it back. We are trying to recapture this base because the Taliban need our help. We want that base. “As you know, one of the reasons we want this base is that it is an hour away from where China builds its nuclear weapons.”
The US president also posted a threatening message on his social network called Truth Sushal last night: “If Afghanistan does not return to Bagram Air Force, bad things will happen!”
