Ukraine still receives US air defense
The US media reported that “Ukraine is getting more assistance from Washington in its war with Russia” said two other air defenses are on the way to Ukraine.
Four informed sources, including current and former US official, have announced in recent days that a Patriot air defense system based in the occupied territories will be shipped to Ukraine after renovation, and Western allies are investigating the preparations for another system by Germany or Greece.
The authorities, who sought to be named, refused to explain US President Donald Trump’s view of the decision to transfer Patriot systems to Ukraine more while Washington is in talks with Moscow, including how to end the Ukrainian war.
White House National Security Council spokesman James Hoyit emphasized that “the council does not provide details of the power and location of defense systems,” said Trump’s President has explicitly said he wants to end the war in Ukraine and stop the killing.
A former White House official said the Biden (former US president) government had guaranteed an agreement with Israel in September before Trump’s victory in the election. The US Department of Defense also said in a statement that “continues to provide equipment to Ukraine from previous permissible packages”, referring to weapons provided from current inventory and new purchases.
According to the New York Times, Kiev’s allies had trouble responding to Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnsky’s request to receive seven Patriot systems. Ukraine now has eight Patriots but only six active systems. One US official said the other two systems are being rebuilt.
By sending another defense from Israel and one of Germany or Greece, Ukraine will have a total of 5 Patriot systems, mainly used to protect Kiev, the country’s capital.
