Russian ambassador: Armenia should not be used as a second front against us
Sergei Copyrinkin in Armenia, referring to Western involvement, said Armenian authorities should not allow their country to be used as a “second front against Russia”.
“Unfortunately, we have long realized that we have long realized that after the benevolent statements of Western countries active in the region, evil intentions are hidden,” ISNA reported.
The Russian ambassador to Armenia emphasized: “US State Department officials have abandoned their masks and have publicly announced that they are seeking to reduce Russian” malignant “influence as well as Iran and China in the South Caucasus.”
“This is to focus on eliminating the bond between Yerevan and Moscow under the pretext of helping Armenian partners to diversify relationships,” said Sergei Copykine.
“We have good reasons and we expect our Armenian allies not to allow Russian forces in the West to use their beautiful country to open the second front in the region to confront Russia,” he said.
At the same time, the Russian ambassador to Armenia emphasized: “Russia does not oppose any activity and presence of Western countries, but it is important for this country to come to the South Caucasus with what real goals and purposes.”
“Armenia must choose between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union,” said Russian deputy Prime Minister Alexei Orchok earlier after the Armenian Parliament endorsed the final version of the EU’s willingness to join the European Union despite its refusal to join the EU.
