Pakistan: We respond to any action of India to close water – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, in the wake of the tensions between the country and India, after the Kashmir invasion, announced that Islamabad would destroy any structures that India would build water and close it to Pakistan, according to Mehr News Agency.
Following an attack on a group of tourists in Kashmir -controlled Indian -controlled Kashmir, the country suspended a 4 -year -old water treaty with Islamabad by accusing a neighboring country of interference in the incident. This treaty guarantees water supply for 5 % of Pakistani fields.
India has announced that as long as Pakistan “convincing and irreversible does not abandon its support for transboundary terrorism”, the suspension would be in force.
According to Delhi, two of the three attackers attacked tourists in Kashmir were Pakistani. Islamabad has rejected any charges against this issue that any action aimed at stopping the flow of Pakistani water or diverting its path will be considered a “declaration of war”.
“This will be a rape against Pakistan,” said Asif. So if such a structure is built, Pakistan will destroy it.
He added: “Rape and attack are not only a cannon and bullet but also have many manifestations.” One of them is (blocking or diverting water paths) that can lead to death and thirst.
A senior Pakistani defense official said last week following the intensification between the two nuclear states that “the Delhi -based military attack on Islamabad was imminent following the deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir.”
