US Vice President for Special Envoy on the Middle East met with Lebanese officials on a trip to Beirut, according to Mehr News Agency.
According to the report, Morgan Ortegas met with President Joseph Aoun at the Lebanese Presidential Palace and discussed numerous cases, including the situation in southern Lebanon, occupied Palestinian borders and Lebanon’s borders.
According to informed sources, Joseph Aoun insisted that negotiations with Ortegas on land borders remained at the forefront, and what he suggested was within the framework of consultations, not demands.
The sources added: Aoun assured Ortegas that the Lebanese army was performing its duties and coordinated with the Ceasefire Supervision Committee in which the United States is present.
Trump’s deputy in the Middle East also met with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and talked to him about financial and economic cases.
The two sides discussed the developments in southern Lebanon and the military’s actions to implement Resolution 2 and the completion of Israel’s departure from Lebanon.
The Speaker of the Lebanese House of Representatives, Nabih Barry, also discussed the metrics and developments on Israeli invasion and attacks on Israeli aggression and attacks on Lebanon, which is contrary to the UN Ceiling Agreement and UN Resolution No. 2, and described the meeting as constructive and positive.
Morgan Ortegas also met with Lebanese army commander Imad Rudolf Hickel, discussing Lebanese public situation and developments in the region.
During all these meetings, Lisa Johnson, the US ambassador to Lebanon, was present.
