Poland: In the event of a war we only have ammunition for 6 weeks – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
Darius Lukovsky, head of the Polish National Security Department, says it has ammunition for only two weeks of battle in the event of a war.
Locuski says Poland has increased weapons production with the aim of strengthening the army to create sufficient capacity to resist the possible Russian attack. The NATO member states more than 5 kilometers of border with the Russian Kaliningrad region.
Moscow has repeatedly rejected hostile intentions against NATO member states and insisted that the reason for the Ukrainian war was the expansion of this US -led military coalition to Russian borders.
Responding to the question of whether the Polish weapons arsenal reserves are capable of resistance in the event of a war, Lukovsky said: “There is such a potential in many areas and some ammunition, but this does not apply to all types of ammunition.”
He added: “I believe that depending on how the conflict begins, given the current level of weapons reserves, we can continue defense operations for one or two weeks.”
According to Lukowski, when the ammunition is being provided for older weapons systems that have been stopped, the situation will be extremely critical.
Lucovsky says Polish weapons reserves have declined due to weapons supply for Ukraine, but stressed that “this decline is very cautious and at this point we are replacing reserves.”
He also added that as long as the Ukrainian war continues, “we (Poland) take time to rebuild our military forces and produce and replace our weapons reserves.”
Poland is one of several NATO members claiming Russia is a threat to them. In order to strengthen the eastern border of Poland, Warsaw has launched a project called “Eastern Shield” with a budget worth € 1.5 billion, and anti -Mines are playing a key role, according to officials.
Moscow has always rejected Western claims about Russia’s intention to attack NATO or EU countries, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the claims as “meaningless”.
