Hamas: We adhere to the existing ceasefire agreement – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
According to RCO News Agency quoting Algeria, Hazem Qasim, a spokesman for the Hamas movement, said in response to media reports about efforts to temporarily extend the ceasefire in Gaza, the group said the group was committed to the existing agreement.
“We adhere to what has been agreed and move towards the second phase of the agreement,” Qassim said.
The statement comes as Zionist media reports indicate that the United States is seeking to extend the first phase of the ceasefire agreement as part of a temporary deal in which more Zionist prisoners are released.
However, Qassim emphasized that Hamas was seeking the permanent end of the war and the complete withdrawal of Israel from Gaza. Israel has not fulfilled the humanitarian commitments of the ceasefire agreement.
“We do not want to go back to war, but if the occupation regime resumes its aggression, we will have no choice but to defend our people,” said a spokesman for Hamas.
These statements indicate a disagreement between the parties about the future of the ceasefire. While Israel and the United States are seeking a temporary extension of the ceasefire and the release of captives, Hamas calls for a permanent end to the clashes and the complete withdrawal of Zionist troops from Gaza.
Current talks in Doha, the capital of Qatar, are being held with the mediation of Egypt and Qatar. These negotiations are trying to find a sustainable solution to the Gaza crisis, but so far there has been no significant progress.
