Lavrov: West and Ukraine are not ready for peace talks
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that there is no real sign from the West and Ukraine that they are ready to start peace talks.
According to RCO News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he did not see any real sign of Ukraine or the West for peace talks despite all their increasing statements about the need to conduct such talks.
In a question and answer to reporters, he said: “Despite the growing noisy talk about the need for peace talks, there is actually no practical action from Kiev and the West to show that they are really ready for these negotiations.”
Lavrov added: “On the contrary, Western military supplies to the Ukrainian armed forces continue, the ultimatum is being carried out to Russia, the legal prohibition (Ukraine) is underway and the issue of Ukrainian authorities remains unresolved.”
According to Reuters, Russian President Vladimir Putin in December emphasized that Moscow has no condition to start a conversation with Kiev and is ready to negotiate with anyone, including Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnski.
Putin, meanwhile, said that Zelkski, whose presidency was supposed to be completed last year but was renewed due to his military rule, should be re -elected in the election so that Moscow consider him a legitimate signatories of any agreement and ensure that the agreement would be. It is legally impenetrable.
Kiev says there is no doubt about Zelksky’s legitimacy, and Russia’s talk about this issue is raised to undermine his authority.
