The information of the Ukrainian army and the US Department of Defense have claimed that Ukrainian soldiers have killed and wounded a number of North Korean soldiers who are fighting alongside Russian forces in the border area of Kursk.
According to RCO News Agency, the Ukrainian military intelligence agency claimed that North Korean army units suffered serious casualties and at least 30 soldiers of this country were wounded and killed in the Kursk region, near the villages of “Plekhov”, “Vorobja” and “Martinuka”.
According to Al Jazeera News channel, this agency continued its statement published on its Telegram channel: “Also, at least 3 North Korean soldiers are missing in the rural area of Kurilovo.”
Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder also told reporters, referring to the claim of the Ukrainian army, that the United States found evidence that North Korean soldiers were killed and wounded in the battle of Kursk.
According to information from Ukraine, South Korea and the United States, it is estimated that 11,000 North Korean soldiers have gone to Russia to fight on the front lines against Ukrainian forces.
Many of these North Korean forces are stationed in the Kursk region.
Analysts say North Korean soldiers face potential challenges, including lack of combat experience and language difficulties.
The landmark joint defense agreement signed between North Korea and Russia on June 19 requires the two countries to provide each other with immediate military assistance in the event of a series of attacks.
