Sullivan: Reaching an agreement in Gaza is a necessity/We expect Israel’s occupation of the buffer zone in Syria to be temporary
American National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that Washington will try to finalize the ceasefire agreement in Gaza this month.
According to RCO News Agency, “Achieving an agreement in Gaza to free the hostages has become a necessity,” Sullivan said. I believe that we are close to this agreement. “My goal is to be able to finalize the agreement this month.”
He added: “I will go to Doha and Cairo to fill the final gaps in the Gaza agreement.”
This American official claimed that the removal of some Hamas officials helped advance the ceasefire negotiations and that the position of this movement has also undergone changes after the ceasefire with Lebanon.
Sullivan, however, acknowledged that reaching a ceasefire agreement is still far from certain.
The US national security adviser further emphasized that the pressure for a ceasefire in Gaza and the agreement to release the hostages is not related to the normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia.
Sullivan also said regarding the aggression of the Zionist regime in Syria: “Israel’s action in entering the Syrian buffer zone is logical and compatible with the right of self-defense. “We fully expect that the occupation of the buffer zone in Syria by Israel will be temporary.”
He stated: “What Israel is doing in Syria is identifying threats and neutralizing them.”
This American official also emphasized that this country is conducting serious talks with Türkiye, Syria and the Zionist regime.
