Blinken travels to the region to discuss Syria and the Gaza hostages
The US State Department confirmed that the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, will travel to West Asia to discuss efforts to reach an agreement on the hostages and advance the smooth transition of power in Syria during his visit to Jordan and Turkey.
According to RCO News Agency, in the statement of the Foreign Ministry, it is stated that Blinken, during his travels, talked about the need for a process to transfer power and form a new government in Syria that “respects the rights of minorities”, “facilitates the flow of humanitarian aid” and “avoids the use of Syria as a base for terrorism or a threat to its neighbors will be discussed.
The statement also said: “Blinken will discuss the urgent need to finalize a cease-fire agreement in Gaza that would guarantee the release of hostages, provide more humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, and ultimately end the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.”
