South Korea’s ruling party opposes the impeachment of the president
South Korea’s ruling People’s Power party decided Wednesday to oppose efforts to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol over his sudden decision to declare martial law, which was lifted within hours, Yonhap News agency said.
According to RCO News Agency, South Korean opposition lawmakers were ready to formally introduce a plan to impeach Yoon over the decision.
The opposition needs about eight members of the ruling party to support this measure to succeed in this plan. If the plan is successfully introduced to the parliament, lawmakers can vote on it until Friday.
