Biden approved military aid of 567 million dollars to Taiwan – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters, US President Joe Biden approved a new military aid package worth 567 million dollars for Taiwan in the country’s latest action to create tension in the region.
In the statement of the White House, this aid is mentioned under the title of support for Taiwan. Despite the lack of official diplomatic relations with Taiwan, Washington is considered the most important international supporter of Taiwan and the supplier of weapons to this autonomous island, and despite China’s repeated warnings to stop supplying weapons, it always continues its destabilizing actions towards this island.
China considers the island of Taiwan as part of its territory and considers actions such as providing weapons to this island as a violation of the “one China” principle.
The White House has written in a statement that Biden has authorized the US Secretary of State to directly withdraw more than 546 million dollars from the Ministry of Defense of this country for military training and providing aid to Taiwan. The White House statement did not mention any other details about this package, but according to the announced figure, this aid is almost twice the military package of July last year, which was provided to Taiwan at a value of 345 million dollars.
While accusing Washington of interfering in China’s internal affairs, Beijing has emphasized that it will never give up the military option in order to annex Taiwan, but prefers that the annexation be done peacefully.
