American officials are not optimistic about a ceasefire in Gaza in the near future
American officials still hope to establish a cease-fire agreement and exchange of prisoners in Gaza, but they are not optimistic that this agreement will be reached in a short period of time.
According to RCO News Agency, American sources said that the United States has not yet given up hope on establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and exchanging prisoners, but the country’s officials are pessimistic about the possibility of significant progress in this regard in the near future.
Meanwhile, the American Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that American officials have admitted that there is no possibility of reaching an agreement until the end of Joe Biden’s presidential term in January next year.
Speaking to Reuters, several US officials acknowledged that the prospects for a deal in Gaza were not promising, but claimed that the disappointment was not visible at all levels of the Biden administration.
One of these American officials, who did not want to be named, stated that the Biden administration continues to try to establish this agreement, in response to the question of whether there is a possibility of reaching an agreement during the current period of activity of the United States, he said: “This possibility “I don’t rule it out, but it doesn’t mean that an agreement will necessarily be made.”
Since August, senior American officials, including the country’s foreign minister, have announced increased hopes for a ceasefire and exchange of prisoners, and have said that a proposed agreement has been accepted by 90% of the parties.
However, one of the sources told Reuters that the changing demands of the parties in Gaza and the Zionist regime have delayed the signing of the agreement, which has made the United States desperate. According to this News agency, the recent tragedy of exploding pagers and wireless devices of Hezbollah in Lebanon, where traces of the Zionist regime are evident, has made the possibility of reaching an agreement less than before.
