Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry: We respect the sovereignty of countries
The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that “Russia has presented its explanations to Iran about Zangzor” in today’s press conference and said: “Respecting the sovereignty of countries is a fundamental principle of Russia.”
According to Isna, “Maria Zakharova”, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, addressed the Zangzor Corridor issue in another part of her press conference today and said: “The Russian side believes that Iran has heard Moscow’s explanations and arguments about the Zangzor Corridor.”
He added: “I saw statements about inviting the Russian ambassador to Iran, which were attributed to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I also saw that the media had a different interpretation of this issue.”
“We are in contact with our partners,” Zakharova noted. This call is permanent. “We have provided all the necessary clarifications to Iran in this regard, and we believe that these explanations have been heard and accepted in Tehran.”
According to the APA News agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this senior Russian diplomat said: “There is no contradiction in Russia’s position regarding respect for the sovereignty of regional countries and there cannot be. Respecting not only the sovereignty of the countries of the region, but also the sovereignty of the countries in general is our basic principle.
According to him, “the anti-Russian intelligence campaign is inspired by certain circles that use every opportunity, even the most absurd, to create differences in the relations and the expanding strategic cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.”
“Those who are behind such provocative actions are obviously doing it for the benefit of the West,” he added. Because only the Westerners benefit from such developments.”
Regarding the issue of Zangzor, earlier, “Sergei Shoigu”, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council, in the meeting with “Ali Akbar Ahmadian”, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized the definite and stable policy of his country regarding Zangzor.
In his meeting with Ahmadian yesterday, Shoigu said: “Russia adheres to previous agreements with Tehran regarding Zangzor, and Moscow’s policy has not changed in any way.”
The senior Russian official added: “Russia supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the three Iranian islands.”
Ahmadian, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, also emphasized Iran’s readiness to increase cooperation in all fields, especially in the economic field.
