The return of the first group of Afghan immigrants by Germany after the Taliban came to power
The German government announced that it has sent back the first group of Afghan immigrants it claims were criminals after the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.
According to RCO News Agency, the German government, which is facing pressure to suppress the migrant population, announced today (Friday) that it has completed the first stage of repatriation of Afghan citizens to their country after the Taliban group came to power in this country.
France 24 channel reported that “Stephen Hebstreit”, a spokesman for the German government, said in a statement: “The people who have been ordered to be extradited have Afghan nationality and all of them are convicted criminals who have no right to stay in Germany.”
Germany does not have diplomatic relations with the Taliban, and to do this, mediation through other channels was needed.
A chartered flight of “Qatar Airways” to Kabul returned these 28 Afghan citizens to their country.
Germany has requested help and support from its regional partners to facilitate the extradition process, Hebstreit said.
After the Taliban came to power in 2022, Germany completely stopped the extradition of Afghan citizens to Afghanistan and closed its embassy in Kabul.
The extradition of these people has been carried out following increased requests from the German government to stop illegal immigration and apply stricter measures against dangerous and criminal asylum seekers and increase some crimes by the immigrant population in this country.
