An archaeologist’s dream; I am looking for the most important ancient tomb of Egypt

According to Isna, “Zahi Hawass”, who is perhaps the most famous Egyptian archaeologist, hopes to discover the tomb of “Nefertiti”, the queen of ancient Egypt, before his retirement, and says that he may be close to this goal.

According to the report of “Live Science”, “Zahi Hawass”, the former minister of antiquities of Egypt, says in a new documentary film about his life and career called “The Man in the Hat”:

If I make this discovery, I think I will be happy to end my career with the most important discovery of the most important Egyptian queen, Queen Nefertiti.

The documentary, directed by Jeffrey Ross, will be released on multiple streaming platforms on January 20.

Nefertiti was the wife of Akhenaten. “Akhenaten” sat on the throne from 1353 to 1336 BC and started a religious revolution, the aim of which was to focus the polytheistic religion of Egypt on the worship of “Aton”. In some works left from ancient Egypt, Nefertiti is depicted as a pharaoh. Some Egyptologists, including Hawass, believe that after Akhenaten’s death, he ruled as pharaoh for a while and chose the new name “Nephrenferaton” for himself.

Hawass and his group have been exploring Egypt’s “Valley of the Kings” for years. They have previously found two tombs, known as KV 65 (discovered in 2006) and KV 66, which were probably looted in ancient times. At first, “KV 66” was thought to be a room from another tomb; But subsequent investigations in 2015 revealed that it was a separate tomb and named it “KV 66”.

Although these two tombs are not directly related to Nefertiti’s tomb, these two tombs and other discoveries by the Havas group show that there are still important discoveries to be made in the Valley of the Kings. They also help to better map the valley and help determine areas where Nefertiti’s tomb is not located.

Now, Hawass is exploring the eastern Valley of the Kings, near the tomb of Hatshepsut, a powerful female pharaoh who ruled between 1479 and 1458 BC. These explorers hope to find Nefertiti’s tomb there. “Havas” says it has no evidence to support this theory; But it has a feeling that this tomb might be there.

Havas told Live Science:

Now there is an area in the eastern valley where we are working near the tomb of Queen Hatshepsut. I hope this is the tomb of Queen Nefertiti. This discovery may happen soon.
