In the 1950s, Tehran’s Vanak Square was one of the most diverse northern squares of Tehran.
In the photo taken by “Ken Rusk” in the 1950s, the Achaemenid decorations in the middle of Vanak Square can be seen along with the famous carousel of Funfar amusement park. In those days, this square with the amusement park next to it was one of the most interesting places in Tehran.
Today Vanak Square has become an administrative center and has less traces of its history. Recently, the installation of Arash Kamangir’s statue in the middle of the square has changed the situation of this square after many years.
