Amidst the daily hustle and bustle of Tehran, in the heart of one of its oldest and most memorable parks, there is a tall metal tree that has a story to tell beyond iron and art. Those who walk in Mellat Park may have noticed this metal work, but few people know its true value and the stories behind it.
The “Golden Palm” or “Nakhlestan” statue was installed in 1354 by the famous Finnish sculptor “Ila Hiltonen” in Tehran’s Mellat Park, which was a wasteland in those days.
Hiltonen chose the palm tree because it is sacred in Iran, it is also considered a symbol of power and blessing; So after consideration, he chose a design to honor Iran’s traditions.
