In the heart of the hustle and bustle of Seoul’s urbanization, an amazing structure has emerged that blends architecture and nature in a unique way. The Seoul Botanical Garden, the first urban botanical center in South Korea, with its giant concave glass roof inspired by the petals of a flower, has become a haven for biodiversity and a space for citizens to relax. This huge collection includes plants from twelve tropical and Mediterranean cities of the world and offers a unique experience of exploring nature. (Yanko Design)

The Seoul Botanical Garden project was introduced in 2021. Unlike traditional greenhouses with domed and convex roofs, the designers of this garden have built a roof with a diameter of 100 meters and a concave structure whose center is lower than its edges. This innovative design not only visually resembles the petals of “Rose of Sharon” (a type of marshmallow native to Korea), but also creates a three-dimensional and immersive experience for visitors.

Seoul Botanical Garden is located in Magok area and on a land of 500,000 square meters and includes different parts such as greenhouse, forest, lake and wetland. Inside the greenhouse, visitors can take a botanical trip to cities such as Athens, Greece, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, and enjoy viewing the diverse vegetation of these regions. Seoul Botanical Garden is not only a tourist attraction; It is also an important educational center to learn about the importance of protecting plants and biodiversity in the modern world.
