The MGM Hotel in Shenzhen, China is built on the land of the former Xiaomisha Hotel, and now it has been reborn with a new concept after a complete renovation. The design of this complex was inspired by the triad of “sky curtain, sea veil and azure horizon” and its lobby and main hall are designed with a rhythm similar to the waves of the sea; Where time becomes a measure of space and creates a fluid, extensive and pure experience for the guests. Curved lines flow in the space and gently twist and unfold like water in motion. (Love That Design)

Curved surfaces, including symmetrical columns, compensate for the limited depth of the lobby of MGM Hotel and move the space from order to chaos, from stillness to movement, and from logic to emotion. In the center of the lobby, Gao Xiaowu’s “Rebirth of the Carp” sculpture is a symbol of respect for nature and a return to the original purity of life.
The blue and purple lighting in the lobby of MGM Hotel creates a view of the sea under the night sky, and the mirrored spiral staircase in the center defines the space like a luminous sculpture. Further down the path, guests arrive at the Lobby Lounge, which is divided into cozy and intimate spaces by semicircular blue walls, artwork and delicate floral arrangements.

The Chinese restaurant of the complex is inspired by the traditional Weilong house, which is a heritage of the people of the region, and reflects the oriental philosophy and native aesthetics. Bamboo texture, red bricks and lattice windows have created a familiar and warm atmosphere reminiscent of the old alleys of southern China. The dedicated lounge was designed with the inspiration of the elegant lines of the yacht and has established a delicate balance between order and dynamism.

The hotel rooms also reflect the dialogue between architecture and the sea. The red light of the sun and the blue color of the sea mix in the design of spaces and create a peaceful and poetic residence; Where life flows in a calm, lasting and alive stillness.

By redefining the relationship between nature, time and design, MGM Hotel Shenzhen built a residence that removes the border between reality and dream, and every moment is an experience of rebirth. Tell me about your opinion about this hotel.
