Iraq is seventh in the Arab world in terms of tourism revenue, followed by the United Arab Emirates ($ 2 billion), Saudi Arabia ($ 2 billion), Egypt ($ 2 billion), Morocco ($ 1.5 billion), Qatar ($ 1.5 billion) and Jordan ($ 1.2 billion).
At the end of the year, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid confirmed that Baghdad deserves to be nominated as the tourism capital of the Arab countries.
In a meeting with Bandar bin Fahd Al Fahid, the head of the Arab Tourism Organization, he explained that the selection of Baghdad as the capital of the Arab tourism will emphasize the city’s unique features, displaying its rich cultural history and heritage and reinforcing its place among the important tourism destinations.
According to the Iraqi president, improving the country’s security and political stability has played an important role in the growth of the tourism industry.
Rashid also welcomed the suggestion of the Arab Academy of Tourism in Baghdad.
