Lucy Zakharova and Ted Lu, two creative designers, have presented a plan to counter ocean pollution, based on which five moving capsules are deployed deep in different sea. The project is known as “An EN · CAP · SU · LAT · Ing) and aims to restore the health of the marine ecosystem. (Yanko Design)

According to the designers, a large portion of the raw materials of the capsules will come from the waste in the “Pacific Waste Mass”; An area of 1.5 million square kilometers of plastic accumulation. Plastic islands are formed in the area, and many marine species are either inevitably swallowed or trapped in plastic. These conditions have disrupted the food chain and immigration routes, and its continuity can lead to the collapse of the marine ecosystem.

Each capsule will be in a different depth and will have the task of clearing the same range to divide the pressure between the five structures. The revolutionary characteristic of this design is in the design of the capsules and immigrants of the capsules; That is, each unit can move along with the floating plastic islands.
Ocean cleanup structures provide a healthier environment for marine animals in addition to collecting waste. The main purpose of the project is to detoxify the ocean and to raise public awareness of the long -term effects of plastic pollution. Part of the space of these capsules is also dedicated to research laboratories to collect data on temperature, pressure, salinity, and species status that are not capable of compatible with climate change.
