Qatar‘s National Museum is one of the most prominent architectural structures in the Middle East; A building designed by Jean Nouvel, a prominent French architect. In his design, he tried to portray the essence of a country that is always moving between the renovation of the rapid and the deep roots of the tradition. His main inspiration was taken from the natural phenomenon of “rose desert”; A sedimentary stone that becomes flower -like clusters with lens -shaped crystals. The same form became the basis of building architecture that embodies the ancient heritage of Qatar and its future landscape.
The museum is built next to the waters of Doha and formed around the old palace “Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al -Thati”, the former Emir of Qatar. The palace, which has hosted the National Museum since the year 9, is now on the route of the visitors as part of the narrative and the last station. The new building, with an area of 2.5 m 2, consists of 2 permanent display halls of 4.3 square meters, temporary galleries, a meeting and conference hall, a restaurant, two cafes and shops. The same lens discs found in the exterior have also made the interior full of mineral and poetic glory.
In the design of this space, Qatar’s natural geography (from the geological emergence of the paradigm) along with people’s history, art, economics, and lifestyles, from migration and pearl fishing to maritime trade and modern life, is interconnected (Empty.es).
