A team of researchers led by Professor Arkadush Marchinchiak of the Pozenan University of Pozenan University of Pozenan has been able to identify a different structure in the ancient Chattalhovic ancient site in Türkiye. The building is located in a series of homes and central courtyards, but unlike other residential buildings, there has been no trace of everyday life.
Due to the lack of residential layers, this structure is called the “House of the Dead”. Studies show that under the floor of the building, the remains of 4 people are buried in a special arrangement. According to the researchers, the bodies were probably died elsewhere and then moved to the building for burial rituals.
The recent discovery shows that Chattalhoic was not only a place of residence but also a ritual space for death. These findings provide a new look at the traditions and social beliefs of Neolithic societies.
