Implementing smart agriculture using spatial data

Ali Sadeghi Naini, Vice President of the Development of Space Applications and Services of the Iran Space Organization, said about the need to expand space technology: Today, space technology in the world has reached a level that has entered the lives of the general public, and its applications in urban life have made Iran to work in this field as well.

He said: “In the future, people may ask the fruit seller in which garden this fruit was grown or irrigated with healthy water, or how much fertilizer and poison were used for it. With this change in approach and new need, we must bring new businesses into the field of space technology.”

Sadeghi Naini said: The approach of supporting startups has been carried out by reputable organizations in the world in the field of space technology for about three years.

The vice president of the Space Organization emphasized that the introduction of space technologies into people’s lives through these companies requires the support of businesses, adding: a series of needs are governmental and the government has defined and planned for them; For example, in the field of smart agriculture, farms that need to be managed and increase production can be supported through startups without government intervention.

Reza Kalantrinejad – a space technology expert – stating that today’s lifestyle is affected by the space technology field, said: Our understanding of the Earth’s developments is one of the tools that the space field has provided to us. For example, the possibility of location or what you have with you under the name of phone is defined in the form of space communication.

He emphasized on the priority of continuing space activities in the country: Iran is one of the 9 countries of the world’s space club and has been able to experience the suitable carrier for launching satellites, carrying living organisms, and sub-orbital processes.

Kalantrenejad stated that we are facing a wave in this field and important companies are transforming space applications, and noted: One of the major developments in the space sector is the presence of the private sector and we are trying to change the authoritarian approach towards serving the society.
