Within a day of its release, Embark Studio’s new mining-based shooter reached its highest number of concurrent players on Steam at 264,673, making it one of the largest mining-based shooters on Steam. Now the game has passed this record and reached the highest number of simultaneous players of 462,488 players.
As of November 9, Arc Raiders had more concurrent players than Battlefield 6 with 441,035, trailing only perennial favorites Counter Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG. Of course, the actual maximum number of concurrent players for Arc Raiders will be higher, as the game is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but neither Sony nor Microsoft will release their player statistics.
As Arc Raiders takes over Steam’s most popular games list, popular streamer Shroud is still asking his fans to vote for it as the game of 2025. These numbers are really impressive, especially when we consider that Arc Raiders is a new IP and only the second project of Embark Studios; A studio that previously only made the free game The Finals. The interesting thing is that Arc Raiders was able to surpass The Finals in terms of popularity at the very beginning.
On the other hand, the release of this game was exactly the same time as the release of Battlefield 6. There’s also an interesting paradox as the team behind Arc Raiders is made up of former members of the Battlefield series, but they’ve now created an ideal alternative for players who might not be interested in military shooters.
The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
