According to the official website of The Game Awards, Apple has become the 14th member of the advisory board of this event.
Other members include Activision, AMD, Electronic Arts (EA), Epic Games, Kojima Productions, Microsoft, Nintendo, Riot Games, Rockstar, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Tencent, Ubisoft, and Valve. It should be mentioned that the advisory board has the duty to help guide and advance the goals and missions of this event.
However, the panel has no role in selecting nominees or award winners, and the final results will be announced at the same time as the general public. Award nominees are selected by a jury of video game media professionals and are scheduled to be announced in mid-November.
It should be said that Apple has focused more on video games this year. The company has created an integrated platform for the game library, the social network of players and the subscription of Apple Arcade by introducing the exclusive application “Apple Games” in the iOS operating system.
Also, this summer, Apple bought a game studio for the first time in its history, but announced that this purchase is not a sign of a change in the company’s business direction. This year’s Game Awards will be held live at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 11. Meanwhile, according to the event’s producer and host, Geoff Keighley, last year’s event broke the Game Awards viewership record, with about 154 million online viewers. This figure has increased by about 31% compared to 2023.
