AI-powered video production app Sora now allows users to produce more videos throughout the day by purchasing credits.
According to Engget, OpenAI has started the process of selling additional credit for video production with Sora. According to the company, 10 additional video productions for $4 are now available for sale through the Apple App Store, and users who want to produce more videos with Sora can do so.
The number of free video productions with Sora will probably decrease
Currently, users can have up to 30 free productions per day with the Sora app, but this amount is expected to decrease as Sora begins its monetization process.
Bill Peebles, Sora project manager at OpenAI, wrote about the changes in a post on the X Network: “Eventually, we’ll have to reduce the number of free builds to keep up with user growth, otherwise we won’t have enough GPUs! But during these changes, we will be transparent.”
Peebles also said that OpenAI plans to generate revenue by licensing the use of copyrighted works, including works of art, characters or well-known figures. “We envision a world where rights holders can charge extra for cameo appearances by their favorite characters,” he added.
Of course, due to the release of the cameo feature, OpenAI has faced a complaint from a company with the same name, which claims that OpenAI seeks to use the name and reputation of this company by providing this feature. Cameo filed a lawsuit against OpenAI for trademark infringement.
In a short period of time, the Sora application was able to achieve high popularity and reach the top of the App Store chart. Currently, users can only use this service by invitation, but with the expansion of OpenAI’s computing infrastructure, it will be possible for everyone to use Sora.
