According to a report from The Information, OpenAI is developing a new tool that can generate music by receiving text or audio input.
According to sources, this tool can be used to add background music to videos or create guitar accompaniment for existing audio tracks. It is not yet clear whether OpenAI plans to release this tool as a standalone product or integrate it into ChatGPT or the Sora video project.
One of the sources also announced that OpenAI is working with a group of students at the Juilliard School to provide more detailed training data for the model by annotating musical notes.
Although OpenAI has previously developed models for music production, those projects date back to before the introduction of ChatGPT. In recent months, the company’s main focus has been on text-to-speech and speech-to-text audio models.
Along with OpenAI, companies like Google and Suno are also among the activists in the field of generative music models based on artificial intelligence.
