Microsoft has just unveiled some new artificial intelligence features for Windows 11 that could change the way users interact with computers. The company announced that it wants to “rewrite the entire operating system around artificial intelligence” by enabling the “Hey Copilot” voice assistant and introducing “automated agents” for all computers equipped with this operating system.
In new features, Microsoft wants your voice to be the third main input method to computers after mouse and keyboard. Over the next few days, all Windows 11 users around the world will be able to activate the Copilot voice assistant. This feature allows you to call your AI assistant from anywhere in the operating system by saying Hey Copilot.
Although this feature may remind us of Microsoft’s previous failed attempt, Cortana, but now the company’s approach has changed. Microsoft believes now is the right time for this transformation, as the company’s internal data shows that users are twice as likely to interact with Copilot via voice than text.
Youssef Mehdi, Chief Marketing Officer of Microsoft, says:
“In our opinion, voice will now become the third input mechanism for using your computer. “This assistant will not necessarily replace the keyboard and mouse, but will be a new way of doing things.”
Also, all these features are available for all Windows 11 computers and there is no need to buy a new “Copilot+ PC” computer.
Microsoft artificial intelligence capabilities for Windows 11
Another new feature of Windows 11 Copilot Actions It is called This is an experimental feature that allows AI agents to take control of your computer and perform complex tasks automatically.

In the demos shown, this intelligent agent performs tasks such as sorting gallery images, extracting data from documents and performing multi-step tasks. Microsoft emphasizes that this feature is still in its early stages and is subject to errors, which is why it’s currently only available to Insider users.
Microsoft has also introduced a new security framework due to the security risks of entrusting computer control to artificial intelligence. The main idea is to create “agent user accounts”; Separate Windows user accounts under which AI agents operate in a sandboxed environment.
Also, this feature is disabled by default and the user must enable it. However, there is one worrying point: these agents will have access to the user’s Documents, Downloads, Desktop and Pictures folders by default, which can be a serious concern for network administrators in companies.
Microsoft also announced the capability Copilot Vision It is now available globally with a new text-based user interface and can access the full document context in Office applications. This means you can ask Copilot questions about an entire PowerPoint or Excel file without scrolling.
