Penske Media Corporation as the owner of Rolling Aston and The Hollywood Reporter has complained about the AI overviews capability that reduces the site’s traffic traffic.
Penske Media Corporation is the first American media company to complain about Google for its artificial intelligence summaries. The company claims that Ai Overviews, often displayed at the top of the search results, has made users clicking on the main source, and this has reduced site traffic, which has led to illegal exploitation of reporters.
Google AI Overviews Cases reduces site traffic
Although Penske Media is the biggest brand to ever have to do with Google for AI Overviews, it is not the first company, and ChegG’s online education company had already complained to Google. A group of independent publishers in Europe also filed a similar complaint against Google.
The “News / Media Union” has also taken a stand against this capability, calling it theft tool and calling for the US Department of Justice to enter the matter.
Google spokesman Jose Castaa has defended AI Overviews in an interview, saying, “With AI Overviews, users find and use the search tool more useful.” But Penske and other publishers say that with this feature, there is little reason to follow the links in search results, and as a result, they have seen a significant reduction in traffic and income.
In his complaint, Penske claims that the revenue from the Affiliate has declined more than one -third this year, calling it directly due to the drop in traffic from Google.
Penske Media also said it is on a round. Or it has to block Google’s access to its content, which actually removes it from the search results and inflicts a more severe blow to its business. Or it should also provide educational content for Google’s artificial intelligence, which will threaten the whole business of the company.
