
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Mahak Charity and the Secretariat of the Iranian Artificial Intelligence Award was held today at the Mahak Hospital. According to the Memorandum, the challenge of “Automatic Diagnosis of Abnormalities in Children’s CT Sacus Pictures” is defined as one of the main axes of the IAAA competition. The purpose of this collaboration is to develop algorithms for early diagnosis of brain tumors and reduce treatment costs.
Iran’s Annual Artificial Intelligence Award (IAAA) is a national platform that aims to educate enthusiasts, create specialist networks and solve the country’s real problems. In the third period of the event, there are five main issues from areas such as health and banking, one of the most important of them.
The Mahak Institute, with a valuable volume of patient imaging data, provides the participating teams with privacy to design and test artificial intelligence models. Teams that offer the most accurate models will win the prize.
Dr. Morteza Eshrafi, director of the Mahak Children’s Cancer Research Center, said at the meeting, referring to the importance of early diagnosis, saying that even a week of diagnosis could dramatically increase the chances of survival and quality of life. He emphasized that the project could help deprived and low -key areas where access to professionals is limited.
Arasb Ahmadian, CEO of Mahak Hospital, also described the cooperation as the starting point of the digital transformation in the diagnosis process, saying the ultimate goal is to use these algorithms inside the hospital and then nationally to identify and treat patients faster. He pointed out that the output of artificial intelligence systems has an auxiliary role and the final decision is always made by the treatment team.
The UNESCO National Commission’s representative in Iran also emphasized the importance of observing ethics, transparency and protection of data privacy, saying that teams that meet these criteria would receive higher privileges.
