Mark Gorman, a famous analyst of Apple products, wrote in his latest report that Apple is working on a project to develop personal robots. Apple engineers are preparing a mobile robot that can follow people around the house. Also, this giant of the iPhone world has prepared an advanced desktop device with the ability to move the screen using robotic arms.
Gorman adds that the development of the robotic display is at a more advanced stage than Apple’s home mobile robot. He reports, however, that the robotic screen “has been added and removed from the company’s product lineup many times over the years.” Given the product’s history, Gorman has regularly reported details of an iPad-like product with a robotic arm for the home over the years.
What has changed now? First, Apple paved the way for its next product category by canceling its electric car project this year. Artificial intelligence and continued interest in smart home technology has also fueled Apple’s interest in home robotics. However, similar to the car project, Tesla has previously showcased work on its own robotics project.
Gorman goes on to describe the desktop robotics hardware as something that “enables the viewer to mimic a person’s head movements during a FaceTime session, such as a nod of approval. The display will also have capabilities to precisely lock onto a specific person in the crowd during a video call.”
Some obstacles include building a product at a reasonable price and getting approval from managers to move the project forward. However, Gorman points out that Apple’s job posting publicly mentioned the company’s next-generation products that use robotics and artificial intelligence; Therefore, there are external signs of the activity of this department.
